Good girls es la séptima pista y el tercer adelanto del álbum Screen violence de Chvrches (2021). Fue la segunda canción que la banda escribió para el disco, estableciendo el tono lírico del mismo. La voz de la frontwoman Lauren Mayberry ofrece letras vitales y sin remordimientos.
Lauren: "'Good girls' fue la segunda canción que escribimos para el álbum y realmente marcó el tono para el enfoque lírico más cortante de este disco. La frase de apertura ("matar a tus ídolos es una tarea") fue algo que escribí después de escuchar a algunos amigos discutir sobre las implicaciones actuales de amar a ciertos artistas masculinos problemáticos. Me sorprendió que hacían lo imposible por disculpar a sus héroes y cómo eso estaba tan yuxtapuesto a mis propias experiencias en el mundo. Las mujeres tienen que justificar constantemente su derecho a existir y negociar por su propio espacio. Nos dicen que a las chicas buenas no les pasan cosas malas. Que si te seleccionas a ti mismo para ajustarte al ideal, mantente pequeño, seguro y aceptable, estarás bien, y simplemente no es jodidamente cierto".
