Death magnetic es el título del disco de Metallica para 2008. Han tenido que pasar 5 años desde su anterior LP, St. Anger (2003).
Para su noveno disco de estudio han trabajado en los Sound City Studios, Los Angeles, con Rick Rubin (Slayer, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers) como productor. Mezclado por Greg Fidelman
(Audioslave, System of a Down, Slipknot).
The day that never comes es el primer single, con un videoclip dirigido por Thomas Vinterberg.
