Entre todos los premios musicales que se entregan cada año en el mundo, quizá las nominaciones que recibimos con más respeto son las del Mercury Prize. Con el objetivo de elegir el mejor álbum del año de artistas o grupos británicos e irlandeses. Se creó en 1992, y desde entonces han sido galardonados: Primal Scream, Suede, Portishead, Pulp, PJ Harvey (por partida doble), Franz Ferdinand, Antony And The Johnsons, Arctic Monkeys, Elbow, The XX, Alt-J, y James Blake, entre otros. Los candidatos al Mercury Prize 2016, que se fallará el 15 de septiembre, son los siguientes:
