Ed: "Escribí esto tan pronto como terminó la gira 'Divide' en una granja alquilada en Suffolk, donde habíamos montado un estudio durante un par de semanas para ver qué sucedía. Se escribió en el transcurso de 3 días que es muy diferente para mí, pero sentí que era demasiado especial para equivocarme. Originalmente estaba destinado a ser el primer single, pero no veía un mundo donde existieran 'Bad habits' si no salía en el verano. 'Shivers' siempre se sintió más otoñal".
