Folklore es el octavo álbum de estudio de Taylor Swift, una colección cuya publicación se anuncia solo un día antes de que se ponga en circulación.

Compuesta y grabada durante el aislamiento por la Covid-19. Con colaboraciones de Aaron Dessner de The National, Bon Iver, William Bowery y Jack Antonoff.

Taylor Swift: "La mayoría de las cosas que planeé este verano no terminaron ocurriendo, pero hay alguna que no planeé que ocurrió. Y esa es mi octavo álbum de estudio, folklore. [...] En él he puesto todos mis caprichos, sueños, miedos y reflexiones. Compuse y grabé la música en el aislamiento pero conseguí colaborar con alguno de mis héroes musicales; Aaron Dessner (que ha co-escrito o producido 11 de las 16 canciones), Bon Iver (que co-escribió y fue bastante amable para cantar en una conmigo), William Bowery (que co-escribió dos conmigo) y Jack Antonoff (que es básicamente familia musical a estas alturas). Ingeniería por Laura Sisk y Jon Low, mezclado por Serban Ghenea y Jon Low. Las fotos del álbum fueron sacadas por la increíble Beth Garrabrant. Antes de este año probablemente le hubiera dado unas vueltas a cuando lanzar esta música en el momento perfecto, pero los tiempos que estamos viviendo me están recordando que nada está garantizado. Sale en 8 ediciones deluxe en CD y otras 8 deluxe en vinilo, con 16 canciones más el bonus The lakes. Como primer single oficial Cardigan.


Folklore en listas
En la lista británica debuta en primera posición con unas 37 mil unidades combinadas. En Estados Unidos hace doblete de entradas al número 1 en las dos principales clasificaciones: lista Billboard 200 (unas 846 mil unidades equivalentes durante los primeros siete días) y Billboard Hot 100 (con Cardigan), un hito que nadie había conseguido antes. En la Hot 100 coloca además las 16 canciones de la edicion estándar en su primera semana. En la lista española de discos se tiene que conformar con la segunda posición de salida.

Taylor Swift no tiene un perfil melancólico claro. Ha intentado hacer un disco acorde a los tiempos con grandes profesionales como colaboradores, pero no siempre la unión de talento hace la fuerza. En esta ocasión falta pasión por la música, y sobra amor al éxito. Aquí nuestra reseña sobre el flojo y gris octavo álbum de Taylor Swift.


The Long Pond studio sessions
El 25 de noviembre de 2020 se estrena en Disney+ una película y una edición deluxe del álbum, que incluye versiones en vivo de cada canción de la obra con la participación de Dessner, Antonoff y Justin Vernon. Se presenta con el audiovisual de Exile con Bon Iver.
