Catch & release es una canción del artista californiano con base en Brooklyn (Nueva York), Matt Simons.
"'Catch & release' trata de la compartida lucha que todos tenemos acerca de la muerte y de como cada uno lo afronta a su manera", explica el artista. "Algunos salen a correr, otros beben, etc. Es la manera que cada uno tiene de liberar la tensión diaria que vamos acumulando. Queríamos hacer algo diferente con la remezcla. La comunidad dance está hambrienta de canciones con significados más profundos. Parecía algo natural".
La música es una tradición familiar puesto que sus abuelos son cantantes de opera y su padre compartió su amor por los Beatles y los clásicos con su hijo desde su niñez. Toca el saxo desde siempre y tiene una licenciatura (en Jazz Saxophone Performance) otorgada por el Conservatorio Purchase College. Esa formación musical le otorgó las bases necesarias para componer este tipo de canciones.
"Nunca perderé esa influencia", dice. "Comencé con el jazz, tengo arraigados esos ritmos y estructuras. Ahora estoy centrado en componer canciones que de verdad resuenen".
